Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis will travel to Washington today, Thursday, February 8.
Mr. Gerapetritis will hold a meeting with the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Antony Blinken, at the US Department of State on Friday, February 9.
Following the meeting, Foreign Minister Gerapetritis and Secretary Blinken will launch the 5th round of Greece - US Strategic Dialogue. The latter will be attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Papadopoulou, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Κostas Fragogiannis.
The areas covered by the 5th Strategic Dialogue are: Regional Developments, Defence and Security, Humanitarian Challenges and Disaster Preparedness, Energy and Environment, Law Enforcement and Counterterrorism, Trade and Investment, People-to-People Ties.
Foreign Minister Gerapetritis and Secretary Blinken will deliver joint statements to the press, and a ceremony will be held during which Mr. Gerapetritis will sign Greece's accession to the "Artemis" Space Cooperation Accords.
During his stay in Washington, Mr. Gerapetritis will address the Wilson Center's "Our Ocean Countdown, Greece 2024: An Ocean of Potential" event and participate in a discussion with the U.S. President's Special Envoy for Climate Change, John Kerry.
Lastly, Mr. Gerapetritis will be the guest speaker at the Georgetown University event "Challenges and opportunities: the future of Europe, EU-US relations, the Middle East and Greece's role in the global landscape".
