Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to travel to Belgrade (5 April 2021)

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias will travel to Belgrade tomorrow, 5 April 2021. Rural Development and Food Minister Spilios Livanos and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair Kostas Fragogiannis will accompany him.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with his Serbian counterpart, Nicola Selaković, and then participate in the first trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Cyprus and Serbia.

Following their meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Serbian counterpart will make statements to the press (at about 12.15, Greek time).

Statements to the press are also to follow the trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Cyprus and Serbia (at about 14.15, Greek time).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs will then be received, successively, by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the President of the Serbian National Assembly, Ivica Dačić, and His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch.  

The bilateral meetings are to focus on the close cooperation between Greece and Serbia on implementation of the Joint Declaration signed in the context of the 3rd High-Level Cooperation Council, which took place in Athens in December 2019. Also to be discussed are Serbia’s European perspective and developments in the wider region of the Western Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.

During their trilateral meeting, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Cyprus and Serbia are expected to examine the prospects for strengthening multilateral cooperation, with emphasis on various sectors such as transport and energy.
