Georgios Kotsiras was born in 1984.
He has been elected as a Member of Parliament (New Democracy Party) in the 2019 and 2023 elections. From January 2021 to May 2023, he served as Deputy Minister of Justice for International Cooperation and Human Rights. From 2019 to 2021, as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament, he has been a member of the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, the Special Permanent Committee on Equality, Youth and Human Rights, the Subcommittee for people with disabilities and the Committee on the Revision of the Greek Constitution (2019 Constitutional Reform). He was also Vice President of the Greek-French Friendship Parliamentary Group, and Member of the Greek-Serbian Friendship Parliamentary Group.
He is a graduate and Doctoral Degree holder of the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in European Law, Competition Law, State Aid, Business Law and Administrative Law (LL.M, Master II). He holds two postgraduate degrees: in European Law from the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and in Administrative Law and Local Self-Government (Droit administratif et Collectivités Territoriales) from the University of Aix-Marseille III "Paul Cézanne" in France.
He completed his doctoral dissertation at the Department of International Studies of the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the field of European Law ("Recovery of illegal state aid") and he received the Doctoral Degree (PhD) in 2014.
In addition, he has participated in studies related to European Law and Business Law (for example, he participated in the drafting of the article-by-article commentary of the Lisbon Treaty, the law on public procurement, etc.). Furthermore, an updated version of his doctoral dissertation entitled "State Aid Recovery in EU Law and the Greek Legal Order" has been published. His studies on Administrative and European Law have also been published in academic journals.
He has participated as a speaker in many conferences, workshops, summer schools, and he has written numerous articles published in the daily and weekly press. He has practiced law specializing in Competition Law, State Aid, Administrative, Commercial and European Law, as well as in dispute resolution (litigation and out-of-court resolution). He has been elected Board Member of the Trainee & Young Lawyers’ Association of Athens twice, having served as a member of the Board, Vice President and President (2010-2014). He has been a Greek champion in tennis.
