Deputy FM Amanatidis meets with representatives of the Greek communities of Canada

A meeting with representatives of the Greek communities of Canada took place at the Foreign Ministry today, Tuesday, 12 January 2016, to look at ways to solve the problems of the Greek community in Canada.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis and attended by the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad, Michalis Kokkinos, the President of the Greek Community of Toronto, Antonis Artemakis, the President of the Greek Community of Montreal, Nikolas Pagonis, University of Western Macedonia Linguistics professor Kostas Dinas, associate professor of Linguistics at the University of Western Macedonia Eleni Griva, and officials from the Ministries of Education and Finance.

During the meeting there was a consideration of the upgrading of Greek language education in Canada, as well as the coordination of actions for strengthening the activities of Canada’s Greek communities.

“It is the government’s will to immediately settle all of the pending issues of the Greek community in Canada through cooperation between the involved agencies,” Mr. Amanatidis stressed following the meeting.
