Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos set out Greece’s positions on Somalia at the High Level Conference held in Brussels on Monday, 16 September.
The Conference, which was organized by the European Union and the government of Somalia, looked at the issues including security, reform of the justice system, and economic development in Somalia, as well as at the confronting of piracy. As Mr. Gerontopoulos underscored in his intervention, confronting piracy is an issue of particular interest to Greece, given the country’s position in the global shipping sector.
