Deputy FM Gerontopoulos meets with Kyoritsu University professor Masako Kido (7 November 2013)

Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos met on Thursday, 7 November, with Art History professor Masako Kido, from Kyoritsu University, Tokyo.

Ms. Kido contributed to the conservation and restoration of murals at the Holy Monastery of Phaneromenis, Salamina, with the financial support of the Japanese Ministry of Education and the Sumitomo Foundation. For this major personal contribution, she has been made an honorary citizen of the Municipality of Salamina.

Professor Kido collaborates with the Byzantine Museum, and she was accompanied on her visit to the Foreign Ministry by the director of the museum, Ms. Lazaridou, and the charge d’affaires of the Japanese Embassy.

Mr. Gerontopoulos praised Professor Kido’s long years of work on Hellenic culture, thanking her for her contribution to promoting Greek art and the friendly relations between Greece and Japan.
