Deputy FM Gerontopoulos meets with the Metropolitan of Mexico

Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos met today at the Foreign Ministry with Metropolitan Athenagoras of Mexico, who set out to his work and efforts aimed at mobilizing his congregation in favor of Greece. During the meeting they also discussed issues concerning the Holy Metropolis of Mexico, the jurisdiction of which also includes the countries of Central America and the Caribbean.

Following his meeting with Mr. Gerontopoulos, Metropolitan Athenagoras stated the following: “I had the great honor of being received by the Deputy Minister competent for ecclesiastical affairs abroad and setting out for him the work we are doing in the countries under our Metropolis. I also briefed him on the actions being taken to put my people at the disposal of the homeland in these difficult moments. In our Metropolis there are half a billion faithful who are philhellenes and adore the culture, language and civilization of Greece, and support Greece’s efforts to overcome this difficult state of affairs.”
