Deputy FM Gerontopoulos visits Lebanon – Meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister A. Mansour

Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos met on Tuesday, 22 October – the first day of his official visit to Lebanon – with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.

During their meeting, Messrs. Gerontopoulos and Mansour discussed issues of mutual and regional interest, including the situation in Syria. Mr. Gerontopoulos referred to the matter of the two abducted Bishops of Aleppo, stressing that Greece’s interest in their location and release remains unabated, and requesting the Lebanese government’s assistance in locating the Bishops and securing their release.

Mr. Gerontopoulos also visited the new offices of the Greek Community of Beirut, where he was received by the Board of Directors and over 200 members of the Community, with the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Beirut in attendance.

Finally, Mr. Gerontopoulos met with the members of the Association of Lebanese Graduates of Greek Universities, who declared him an honorary member of their Association.
