Deputy FM Kourkoulas meets with Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister

Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas met within the framework of the signing of the intergovernmental agreement on the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) with Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Gulmammad Javadov.

Mr. Javadov congratulated Mr. Kourkoulas on the signing of the TAP agreement, which he called an important and substantial step, underscoring Azerbaijan’s desire to strengthen its relations with Greece on the political and economic levels, with particular emphasis on energy, tourism, trade and services. The Azerbaijani Deputy Minister stressed the need for business cooperation between the two countries, underlining the importance of the business mission that will be visiting Baku on 6-8 March, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Kourkoulas.

Finally, they discussed the role Greece can play, in view of its upcoming EU Presidency in the first half of 2014, in promoting EU-Azerbaijan relations.
