Deputy FM Kourkoulas meets with his Bulgarian counterpart Todor Churov

Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas met on the margins of the “EU Balkan Summit” Economist Conference in Sofia with Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Todor Churov.

In Mr. Kourkoulas meeting with Mr. Churov – as in Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos’ meeting in Athens yesterday with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin – the historical bonds of friendship between the Greek and Bulgarian peoples were reaffirmed, as was the good climate prevailing in the relations between the two countries.

Mr. Kourkoulas briefed Mr. Churov on the upcoming Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union, also underscoring the opportunities opening up for cooperation between the two countries through the new Connecting Europe Facility, which is part of the EU’s new multiannual financial framework (MFF).

Finally, Mr. Kourkoulas stressed the need to promote a comprehensive EU migration policy that also confronts the multifaceted issue of illegal migration.
