Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas participated in the roundtable discussion hosted in New York by the Caspian Forum on the issue of the recent activation of the Southern Energy Corridor through the choice of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
Also participating in the roundtable, which was coordinated by CBS journalist Charlie Rose, were Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze, the European External Action Service’s special representative for Central Asia, Patricia Flor, and the U.S. State Department’s Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs.
In his intervention, Mr. Kourkoulas pointed to the new energy state of affairs taking shape in the Eastern Mediterranean; a state of affairs characterized by the creation of new markets with the active participation of the states in the region.
Moreover, Mr. Kourkoulas underscored the contribution of recent agreements to achieving the strategic goal of a balanced diversification of the energy mix in Europe.
