Deputy FM Kourkoulas participates in the proceedings of the European Parliament’s Constitutional Affairs Committee (Strasbourg, 16 January 2014)

Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas participated today in the proceedings of the European Parliament’s Constitutional Affairs Committee (AFCO), in Strasbourg. Mr. Kourkoulas presented the Hellenic Presidency’s priorities to the Committee, emphasizing the institutional issues within the AFCO’s competency.

In his intervention, Mr. Kourkoulas underscored that the Hellenic Presidency will work to strengthen the participation of European citizens in the upcoming European elections and to promote the Directive on the funding of European political parties.

“The functioning of truly European political parties is the key to the genuine expression of European citizens’ will for the improvement of the qualitative characteristics of European Democracy,” Mr. Kourkoulas stressed.
