Deputy FM Kourkoulas participating the proceedings of the European Parliament Plenary in Strasbourg (11-13 March 2014)

Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas will represent the Council of the EU at the European Parliament’s March Plenary, in Strasbourg.

At 14:40 on Tuesday, 11 March, Mr. Kourkoulas will sign approved EU legislation (LEX).

On the same day, at the evening session of the European Parliament Plenary, Mr. Kourkoulas will speak on behalf of the Council of the EU in the debates on the following issues:

• Personal Data Protection
• US NSA surveillance programme, surveillance bodies in various Member States and impact on EU citizens' fundamental rights
• 2013 progress report on Turkey

On the morning of Wednesday, 12 March, Mr. Kourkoulas will speak in the Key Debates on the preparations for the European Council meeting  of 20-21 March 2014, and on the crisis in Ukraine.

At the Plenary’s Wednesday evening session, Mr. Kourkoulas will participate in the debates on the following  issues:

• EU priorities for the 25th session of the UN Human Rights Council
• Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund – Internal Security Fund

Finally, at 13:30 on Wednesday, 12 March, Mr. Kourkoulas will hold a press conference at the European Parliament’s Press Room.
