Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas will be in Luxembourg on Tuesday, 22 October, to participate in a meeting of the EU General Affairs Council (GAC).
The GAC agenda includes preparations for the 24-25 October European Council and will deal with issues of digital economy and innovation, Economic and Monetary Union – including the banking union and the social dimension of the EMU – as well as with matters of migration and preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit Meeting.
The GAC will also review the implementation of the European Semester for this year, a process that concerns the coordination of member-state structural, fiscal and macroeconomic policies.
The GAC will adopt Conclusions on the added value of the Macroregions, a form of regional cooperation amongst member states and their neighbouring countries. As is well known, Greece has played an important role in the creation of the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion, which will be implemented in the near future and concerns innovative actions in maritime and coastal development, transport, environment and tourism.
