On the instructions of Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos, who will remain in Athens to chair a special interministerial meeting on preparations for the European Council, Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas will represent Greece at the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Luxembourg on Monday, 25 June 2012.
The FAC will look at the situation in the Southern Neighbourhood, with special emphasis on Syria and Egypt. They will also examine developments in Pakistan and Bosnia-Herzegovina. EU High Representative Ashton will brief the FAC on the talks with Iran concerning the latter’s nuclear programme.
