Deputy FM Kourkoulas to participate in the EU General Affairs Council

Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas will participate in the 4 February meeting of the EU General Affairs Council, in Brussels.

The agenda for the Council includes preparations for the 7-8 February and 14-15 March European Councils, as well as a presentation of the Irish Presidency’s programme. There will also be a discussion of the Arab spring and the general strategy for EU trade agreements.

Mr. Kourkoulas will attend a working luncheon in which European Council President Rompuy will participate. The main subject of discussion will be the Multiannual Financial Framework and other issues to be considered by this week’s European Council Meeting.

Within the framework of preparations for the 14-15 March European Council, there will be a discussion of the European Commission’s annual review of growth, as well as of the effort to integrate the Economic and Monetary Union (banking union and other economic policy issues).
