Deputy FM Kourkoulas to participate in the Körber-Stiftung conference on “Emerging from the crisis: The future of Europe”

At 09:00 on Saturday, 15 March, Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas will participate as a keynote speaker, together with the German Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Michael Roth, in the Körber-Stiftung think-tank’s conference, at the National Library, on “Emerging from the crisis: The future of Europe”. Mr. Kourkoulas will speak on “The impact of the Crisis on the Union: Whipped and wounded?”.

The Conference will be chaired by Richard von Weizsäcker, former president of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The event is being held ahead of the May 2014 European elections, within the framework of the Bergedorf debates, which are being organized in EU member states to promote the debate on current issues regarding German and European foreign and defence policy. The objective of the debates is an exchange of views on European issues and the search for solutions to issues Europe is facing currently.

The participants will respond to questions such as the institutional fortification of the EU and the strengthening of economic competitiveness within the framework of respect for social justice, as well as to the question of who can guarantee the success of the European model.
