On 9 and 10 October 2012, Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas carried out a visit to Israel, where he had the opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral interest in the meetings he had, within the framework of the ongoing strengthening of the relations between the two countries.
His meeting with his Israeli counterpart Daniel Ayalon focused on EU-Israeli relations, developments in the Middle East – particularly in Syria – and issues bearing on bilateral economic relations.
The critical situation prevailing in Syria and developments in the wider region were the subjects of Mr. Kourkoulas’s talks with the Head of the Israeli National Security Council, Yaakov Amidror.
During his visit Mr. Kourkoulas was also received by Patriarch Theofilos of Jerusalem.
