Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis met on Tuesday, 14 June, with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Greece, Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov.
The two sides discussed the prospects opening up for further dialogue and deepening of economic relations between the two countries within the framework of next month’s Joint Interministerial Committee meeting. Special mention was also made to the encouraging message of an increase in Ukrainian tourists visiting Greece this year: 100,000 – up from 60,000 in 2010. In this context, the Ukrainian side conveyed its thanks for and satisfaction at the significant progress observed in Greek visa-issuing procedures.
Finally, Mr. Kouvelis informed Mr. Shkurov of the impact on Greek agricultural products of Ukraine’s imposition of an additional certification requirement against E. coli.
