The following are excerpts from Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis’ statements following his meeting at the Foreign Ministry with Indian Deputy Minister for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia:
· “Greece has much to gain from close strategic economic cooperation with India, which is one of the fastest and most dynamically developing countries in the world. Still closer commercial and economic ties between Greek and India are of very great importance to Greece, which is in the midst of an effort to intensify its economic activities abroad and thus gain strong and effective ties and economic cooperation with a country with which we already have excellent political and diplomatic relations.”
· “At this 6th Greek-Indian Joint Interministerial Committee, we signed a protocol on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the sector of investments – specifically in the sectors of renewable energy sources and green technologies; tourism; port development; air and sea transport; science and technology; agriculture; and construction and infrastructure.”
· “We discussed the proposal for the signing of an agreement on cooperation between ‘Invest in Greece’ and ‘Invest in India’ and in many other sectors that we have put on the table.”
· “We accepted the invitation of Indian Deputy Commerce and Industry Minister Scindia for a Greek business delegation to visit India so that we can lay the groundwork for the Greek business community’s next steps in developing cooperation with their Indian colleagues. Also accepted was our invitation for Indian entrepreneurs to visit Greece so that we can cooperate in specific sectors.”
