Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis was present at 18:00 on Friday, 27 May, at the departure from the Spanopoulos shipyard in Salamina of the vessel “Agios Rafael”. Mr. Kouvelis noted the importance of Greece’s presence through diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives contributing to the resolution of a major crisis in our immediate neighbourhood.
This humanitarian aid mission comes following the arrival in Benghazi last weed of a medical team. The mission will transport 30 tons of humanitarian aid (food, medicine, blankets) and will contribute to covering the basic human needs of Libyan citizens.
In his statements, Mr. Kouvelis thanked the Defence General Staff for their excellent cooperation in preparing the mission, as well as the Foreign Ministry’s Hellenic Aid Department for successfully carrying out a complex and particularly difficult mission.
