Deputy FM Kouvelis’s meetings in Cyprus

Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Markos Kyprianou, and Trade, Industry & Tourism Minister Antonis Paschalidis on the margins of his visit to Cyprus to attend a forum on “Cyprus: The gateway of Greek enterprises to the Arab world.”

During their meeting, Mr. Paschalidis and Mr. Kouvelis underscored the prospects for further enhancement of cooperation in the sectors of services, tourism, investments and energy.

In Mr. Kouvelis’s meeting with Mr. Kyprianou, the importance of economic diplomacy and the need to enhance and promote it was stressed. Development cooperation issues were also discussed, as were the most recent developments in the region. Mr. Kouvelis briefed Mr. Kyprianou on the business forum hosted in Cyprus by Greek export agencies with the aim of pointing up the geo-economic role of Greece and Cyprus via expansion abroad and investments. Mr. Kyprianou briefed Mr. Kouvelis on the course of the Cyprus issue and President Christofias’s initiatives, the Greek government’s support for which was reiterated by Mr. Kouvelis.
