Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas today addressed the Greek-Korean Business Conference, at which trade, investment and development issues were discussed. Mr. Mardas presented the investment opportunities that exist in Greece today, as well as the Greek products that have prospects for exportation to Korea. He put particular emphasis on agricultural products, the exporting of which meets with difficulties due to the large number of certifications required for their importation into Korea. On the margins of the event, Mr. Mardas met with a delegation made up of personnel from the Korean Embassy in Athens and from the Korea Trade Investment Agency, with the aim of exploring the potential for enriching bilateral economic relations and organizing a Greek business mission to Korea.

Mr. Mardas also participated today, as a speaker, in the 2nd Greek-Swedish Business Forum, entitled “Jumpstarting the Economy: Successful practices from Sweden,” at which there was a discussion of issues that concern the attraction of foreign investments and the improvement of the business environment so as to favor the development of entrepreneurship and innovation. Mr. Mardas presented all the positive factors for attracting Swedish investments, while also stressing the quality of Greece’s highly trained workforce. He reaffirmed the Greek side’s intention to carry out a business mission to Sweden in the spring of the coming year.
