In addition to meeting with his French counterpart while in Paris, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos met on Monday, 13 January, with Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici, with whom he had the opportunity for an in-depth discussion of the state of play in the Greek economy and the implementation of Greece’s economic adjustment programme.
Mr. Venizelos referred in particular to the potential opening up now, following Greece’s achievement of a primary surplus, for official confirmation of the sustainability of the Greek public debt, which is structured in such a way as to have an impressively low cost of servicing. This is linked with the decisive turn out of the crisis and the memorandum, and with a gradual return to the markets.
