Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos met in New York on Wednesday, 25 September, with the Foreign Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Dr. Riad Malki, within the framework of Ministerial Week at the 68th UN General Assembly.
Mr. Malki briefed Mr. Venizelos on the development of the Middle East peace process and on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama.
Mr. Venizelos underscored to Mr. Malki the great importance to Greece of the peace process, the Jerusalem Patriarchate – which is a link between the two peoples – and the status of the Holy Land.
Messrs. Venizelos and Malki agreed to continue their talks in Ramallah, on 9 October.
