Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement regarding yesterday’s deadly assault on personnel of Europe’s EULEX mission in Kosovo:
“We condemn in the most unequivocal terms the deadly attack on a EULEX motorcade in Kosovo that resulted in the death of a Lithuanian member of the mission.
This totally unacceptable, tragic incident – an attack on a European mission working to establish and strengthen rule of law – underscores the continuing need for dialogue, caution and self-restraint, and for the implementation of the existing agreements to the benefit of all the residents of the region.
We express our condolences to the family of the victim.”
