Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos conversed by telephone today, Wednesday, 29 January, with United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During their conversation, they discussed the organization and convening of the Greek-UAE Joint Interministerial Committee and Business Forum, as well as ways to strengthen European Union and Greek cooperation with the United Arab Emirates.
In this context, Mr. Venizelos reiterated to his counterpart that it is a priority of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union to complete at the soonest possible time the process that will lead to the waiving of the visa requirement for UAE citizens, an initiative that Greece – from the outset – has played a leading role in supporting in the competent EU organs.
Mr. Venizelos took the opportunity of these talks to convey to his collocutor the warmest wishes of the President of the Hellenic Republic for the speedy return to health of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
