Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Venizelos to attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg (21 October 2013)

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will participate in the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Monday, 21 October 2013.

The Council agenda includes Southern Neighbourhood issues – the situation in Syria, Egypt and Libya – as well as preparation for the Eastern Partnership Summit Meeting that is to take place at the end of November, in Vilnius.

Also within the framework of the FAC, Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will be the guest at a working luncheon.

Finally, following the tragic events in Lampedusa and Sicily, and in tandem with the Prime Minister’s visits to Valetta and Rome, Mr. Venizelos will take the opportunity of Monday’s FAC to raise the issue of illegal migration. This issue will also be discussed at Tuesday’s General Affairs Council and at the upcoming EU Summit Meeting on 24 and 25 October, in Brussels.
