Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Venizelos to visit Strasbourg and participate in the European Parliament Plenary (4-5 February 2014)

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will be in Strasbourg on Tuesday and Wednesday, 4 and 5 February, to participate in the European Parliament Plenary, in his capacity as President of the Council of Ministers of the European Union.

On Tuesday, Mr. Venizelos will attend a luncheon being hosted by the President of the European Parliament, Mr. Schulz, in honor of the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano.

Subsequently, Mr. Venizelos and Mr. Schulz will sign approved European Union legislation, and Mr. Venizelos will meet with the head of the offices of the European Parliament in the EU member states.

Mr. Venizelos will also address the Socialists & Democrats Parliamentary Group and will host a dinner in honor of the Greek MEPs.

At the European Parliament Plenary, on Tuesday, 4 February, Mr. Venizelos’ intervention will be on the need to establish a tax on financial transactions, and on Wednesday, 5 February, he will speak on the issues of Syrian refugees on the Bulgarian border, the EU-Russia Summit Meeting, the recent incident in Farmakonisi, and the progress reports on Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Montenegro.
