FM Droutsas and Alternate FM Xenogiannakopoulou to participate in the EU General Affairs and Foreign Affairs Councils (Brussels, 21 February 2011)

On Monday, 21 February 2011, Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas and Alternate Foreign Minister Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou will be in Brussels to participate in the proceedings of the EU General Affairs and Foreign Affairs Councils (GAC/FAC).

The FAC will focus mainly on the situation in North Africa, the Middle East, Somalia, the Horn of Africa, Lebanon and human rights issues.

The GAC agenda includes preparation for the 24-25 March European Council and the discussion on the Future of Cohesion Policy.

An informal meeting of the GAC will take place earlier, on Sunday, within the framework of a working dinner under EU High Representative Lady Ashton, where discussion will focus on developments in North Africa and the Middle East. During the dinner, Mr. Droutsas will have the opportunity to brief his counterparts on the results of the recent trip (16-17 February 2011) carried out to Egypt by Foreign Ministry Secretary General Y.-A. Zepos.
