Foreign Minister Avramopoulos meets with the Ambassadors of China and Australia

Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos had courtesy meetings today with Chinese Ambassador Qiwen Du and Australian Ambassador Jenny Polyxeni Bloomfield. Both meetings took place in a warm climate.

Mr. Avramopoulos and the Chinese Ambassador discussed issues concerning Greek-Chinese bilateral relations, with emphasis on the great potential that exists in the sectors of economy, trade, investments and tourism. Mr. Qiwen Du conveyed an invitation from the Chinese Foreign Minister to Mr. Avramopoulos to visit Beijing, and he stressed that Greece is one of China’s strategic partners in the European Union.

Mr. Avramopoulos and Ms. Bloomfield discussed the important role of the Greek Australian community in deepening ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation between Greece and Australia in a number of sectors, including economy and investments. They also talked about developments in the economic crisis in Europe and the importance of Greece’s changing its international image.
