Foreign Minister Avramopoulos had courtesy meetings today with U.S. Ambassador Daniel Bennett Smith and Netherlands Ambassador Cornelis Van Rij.
Mr. Avramopoulos and the U.S. Ambassador looked at bilateral political cooperation issues, with emphasis on the potential that exists in the sectors of economy and tourism, and they ascertained a common will to give new impetus to bilateral relations. They also discussed international issues of mutual interest.
In the meeting with the Netherlands Ambassador, who is completing his posting to Greece, there was discussion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries on a technocratic level within the framework of confronting the crisis, and the importance of strengthening tourist flows to Greece, which is one of the most popular destinations for tourists from the Netherlands. Mr. Van Rij once again expressed his gratitude for the mediation of the Greek Foreign Ministry for the release of the three Netherlands servicemen during the Libyan crisis.
