Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos talked by phone with Turkish Prime Minister T. Erdogan and the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus and Germany, E. Markoullis and G. Westerwelle, who contacted him to congratulate him on his new duties.
In his conversations with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, who invited him to visit Cyprus, Mr. Avramopoulos reaffirmed Greece’s unwavering support for the efforts of the Cypriot people towards a just and viable solution to the Cyprus issue and gladly accepted Ms. Markoullis’s invitation to visit the Republic of Cyprus as soon as possible.
In his conversation with the German Foreign Minister, who also invited him to visit Berlin, Mr. Avramopoulos, having accepted the invitation, expressed Greece’s will for close cooperation with Germany on the joint efforts to deal with the crisis. The two ministers agreed to meet on the margins of Monday’s Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg.
