Foreign Minister Avramopoulos to participate in the EU Foreign Affairs Council

Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will represent Greece at the EU Foreign Affairs Council taking place in Brussels on Monday, 19 November 2012.

The Council agenda includes developments in the Middle East and the countries of the southern neighbourhood. The proceedings are to focus on the situation in Syria and the tension in Gaza and southern Israel. There will also be a discussion of developments in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the situation in Ukraine and Cuba, and EU-U.S. relations.

Earlier, Mr. Avramopoulos will participate in a joint meeting of EU Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs to discuss the matter of strengthening the EU’s defence policy.
