Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will be in Brussels on Monday, 27 May, to attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC).
The FAC agenda includes Syria, with emphasis on containment measures and the initiatives for a political resolution of the crisis. The working luncheon will look at the prospects for strengthening the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy. The Foreign Ministers will then exchange views on the prospects for reopening the Middle East peace process.
Finally, Mr. Avramopoulos will attend a working dinner hosted by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, which will be attended by the Foreign Ministers of candidate countries for EU membership. The dinner will focus on the Southern and Eastern Dimensions of the European Neighbourhood Policy.
