Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will be in Luxembourg from 14 to 16 October 2012 to participate in the EU Foreign Affairs and General Affairs Councils.
At 19:30 on Sunday, 14 October, Mr. Avramopoulos will attend a dinner of the Foreign Ministers of the EU with the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.
On Monday, 15 October 2012, Mr. Avramopoulos will participate in a working luncheon being hosted by the Foreign Ministers of Luxembourg and Germany, during which there will be a discussion of the “Future of Europe Group” report. He will then participate in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council, the agenda for which includes discussion of the latest developments in Syria, the situation in Mali, the course of the Middle East peace process, Iran, and an assessment of the EU-China Summit.
The General Affairs Council will meet on Tuesday, 16 October, to make preparations for the European Council of 18-19 October and the November European Council, while the Presidency will brief the GAC on the course of the implementation of the conclusions of the previous European Council. On Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Avramopoulos will attend a working luncheon of EU Foreign Ministers with European Council President Van Rompuy.
Mr. Avramopoulos will be accompanied to Luxembourg by Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas.
