Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will be in Brussels on 4 and 5 December 2012 to participate in the NATO Ministerial taking place there.
On the first day of the proceedings, 4 December, Mr. Avramopoulos will attend a working luncheon of the NATO-Russia Council with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The session of the North Atlantic Council will follow, focusing on NATO partnerships and particularly the Alliance’s priorities in this area: the Mediterranean Dialogue, the Partnership for Peace programme, and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative. This session will also look at the current situation in the Western Balkans, with emphasis on Kosovo and the Belgrade-Pristina talks. At the working dinner to follow, the Foreign Ministers will discuss recent developments in the Middle East and North Africa.
On the second day of the proceedings, 5 December, there will be a meeting of the NATO-Georgia Commission, with the participation of Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze. On the same day, there will be a meeting of NATO member state Foreign Ministers with non-NATO member states contributing to the NATO mission in Afghanistan (ISAF).
Within the framework of the NATO Ministerial, Foreign Minister Avramopoulos will have a bilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
