Foreign Minister Avramopoulos to pay official visit to Azerbaijan

Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will travel to Baku, Azerbaijan, on Monday, 29 April 2013, for an official two-day visit.

Mr. Avramopoulos will be received by the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Aliyev, meet with the country’s Prime Minister, Artur Rasizadeh, and have talks with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

The agenda for his talks includes bilateral political, economic and energy cooperation, as well as regional developments and EU-Azerbaijan relations ahead of Greece’s upcoming EU Presidency in the first half of 2014. The talks will be followed by a joint press conference and an official luncheon hosted in Mr. Avramopoulos’s honor.

During his visit, Mr. Avramopoulos will also meet with Azerbaijan’s Culture and Tourism Minister, Abulfas Garayev, as well as with representatives of the Greek community in Azerbaijan.

Mr. Avramopoulos will be accompanied on his visit by Deputy Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Asimakis Papageorgiou.
