Foreign Minister Dimas’ statement on arriving in the Republic of Cyprus (21 November 2011)

STAVROS DIMAS: I am very moved to be visiting Cyprus during these first days since taking up my duties as Foreign Minister.

I must underscore that Cyprus has been and remains the top priority of our foreign policy.

Greece supports and is dedicated to the common pursuit of a solution that is just, viable and functional, within the framework of the UN resolutions and compatible with the EU acquis.

While I’m here, I will have important meetings aimed at strengthening this relationship and making it more effective.

Finally, I would like to express my get-well wishes to the former President of the Republic, Glafcos Clerides. May he be strong and may we have him with us to advise us for many years in the future.

Thank you very much.
