Foreign Minister Droutsas and Alternate FM Xenogiannakopoulou to participate in the EU General and Foreign Affairs Councils

Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas and Alternate Foreign Minister Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou will travel to Luxembourg on Tuesday, 12 April 2011, to participate in the EU General Affairs and Foreign Affairs Councils (GAC/FAC).

The FAC’s in-depth discussion on the Southern Neighbourhood will focus on Libya, but will also cover Bahrain, Syria and Yemen. The Middle East issue will also be discussed, and there will be a review of the situation in Cote d’Ivoire, Belarus and the Southern Caucasus, in the light of recent developments. Human rights issues are also on the FAC agenda.

The GAC, which will take place on Wednesday, will include a discussion of the results of the 24-25 March European Council and the adoption of conclusions on the EU Danube Strategy.
