Foreign Minister N. Kotzias' statement to journalists on his arrival at the venue for the International Conference on Cyprus (Crans-Montana, 3 July 2017)

Foreign Minister N. Kotzias' statement to journalists on his arrival at the venue for the International Conference on Cyprus (Crans-Montana, 3 July 2017)JOURNALIST: Mr. Minister, is the substantial discussion starting today?

N. KOTZIAS:  A week is beginning, we have prepared our texts and submitted them. They concern the mechanism for the monitoring and the implementation of the decisions, the issue of the withdrawal of the occupation troops and the abolition of the Guarantee treaties. I think it is a week that calls for composure, caution, reflection, because we all have a great responsibility, and we won't allow anyone to think they can prevent Cyprus from evolving into what I call – and this term was adopted by the UN Secretary-General – a normal state. Not into a perfect state, but a state like all others; a state that decides its own fate, decides on its future and can dream that its children will live in an independent and sovereign Cypriot state. Thank you very much.
