Foreign Minister Stavros Lambrinidis departed for Luxembourg on Sunday, 19 June 2011, to participate in an informal meeting of Foreign Ministers on the evening of the same day. This meeting will look at developments in North Africa and the wider Middle East and will be followed by a working dinner on the Middle East peace process.
On Monday, Mr. Lambrinidis will participate in the proceedings of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), which will focus on recent developments in the Southern Neighbourhood, the Middle East and the peace process, Sudan, Albania, Belarus and European Neighbourhood Policy issues. Later on Monday, there will be an EU-Western Balkans ministerial meeting on the margins of the Council.
Alternate Foreign Minister Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou will represent Greece at the proceedings of Tuesday’s General Affairs Council (GAC). The GAC agenda includes preparations for the European Council on 23 and 24 June and a presentation of the Council’s programme for the coming 18 months.
