Foreign Minister Lambrinidis to visit Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon (12-14 October 2011)

Foreign Minister Stavros Lambrinidis will carry out visits to Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon from Wednesday, 12 October, to Friday, 14 October, accompanied by a delegation from the National Council on Foreign Policy, the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General, and representatives of business community institutional agencies.

The first stop on Mr. Lambrinidis’s tour is Cairo, where he will meet with the Foreign Minister, the Secretary General of the Arab League and the Alternate Minister for Investments. The itinerary also includes a visit to a Greek school complex, as well as meetings with members of the Greek Egyptian community and representatives of Greek enterprises in Egypt.

On Thursday, 13 October, the Minister will be in Amman, where he will meet with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, members of the Senate, the Speaker and Vice Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Jordan, and the Minister for Planning and International Cooperation. He will also meet with the board of the Greek-Jordanian Friendship Association and with the Jordanian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Jordanian-Greek Friendship Committees.

The last stop on Mr. Lambrinidis’s tour will be Beirut, where he will meet with the President of the Republic, the Speaker of Parliament and the Prime Minister, as well as the Foreign Minister. At a special ceremony at the old Greek embassy, Mr. Lambrinidis will unveil a commemorative plaque in honor of George Seferis.
