On Friday, 15 February 2013, Greece’s Ambassador to Mexico, Dimitrios Anninos, was taken to hospital in Mexico City with a ruptured aortic aneurysm.
Ambassador Dimitrios Anninos was a distinguished career diplomat who served in a number of posts, including Greek Consul General in Melbourne and Shanghai, as well as Ambassador to New Zealand. During his career, he furthered the interests of Greece and global Hellenism significantly, and was distinguished for his ethos, his conscientiousness and his love for his homeland.
His passing is a great loss to the country’s Diplomatic Service.
The Foreign Minister communicated from Ankara with the deceased’s spouse and expressed his great sorrow at the unexpected death of his friend and colleague.
The leadership and personnel of the Foreign Ministry express their deep condolences to his loved ones.
