Following coordinated efforts made by the Foreign Ministry, numerous phone calls made by Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos to his Nigerian counterpart, and a letter sent by the President of the Hellenic Republic to the Nigerian President, the Greek-flagged oil tanker Aegean Horizon, detained since 13 November by the Nigerian authorities, has sailed for its destination.
After the ship was released, Foreign Minister Avramopoulos spoke with the captain, Ilias Kanellopoulos, to ask after the health of the crew and convey his best wishes.
The oil tanker Aegean Horizon is under way for Rotterdam.
