Just three days after the unacceptable events that took place in Premeti, a violent attack was carried out this morning, in the same town, on a Greek Citizen and a member of the Greek minority, resulting in injuries to both persons.
Immediately following the aforementioned incident, unknown persons stoned the Greek Consulate General in Gjirokaster, fortunately causing only material damage.
We express our abhorrence and unequivocally condemn today’s two attacks, which raise questions as to the readiness and willingness of the competent Albanian authorities to maintain order and protect the premises of our diplomatic and consular missions.
We await the immediate arrest of the perpetrators by the Albanian authorities, whose duty it is to put a prompt end to this unacceptable situation that we would like to hope has come about without the Albanian government’s knowledge.
The Albanian Ambassador to Athens was immediately summoned to the Foreign Ministry so that a demarche could be made to him.
