Foreign Ministry spokesman Gregory Delavekouras made the following statement regarding the political developments in Lebanon:
“Greece is monitoring developments in Lebanon with care and concern following the fall of the government of national unity under Saad Hariri and wants to reiterate its firm support for the independence, sovereignty, stability and democracy of Lebanon, all of which contribute to the stability of the region as a whole.
Both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU, Greece is prepared to contribute in any way to the resolution of the present crisis and to the stability of our friend Lebanon.
As Greece always favours international legality, we stress our support for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.”
