Foreign Ministry Spokesman Gregory Delavekouras made the following statement today regarding the attack on a South Korean island:
“It is with concern that Greece is monitoring the latest developments on the Korean Peninsula and the aggressive conduct of North Korea, which, according to reports, caused human casualties in South Korea.
Greece unequivocally condemns this action that undermines the peace and stability of the region.
We welcome the efforts of the President of South Korea, Mr. Lee Myung-bak, to de-escalate the crisis, and we call on the South Korean government to respond accordingly.
The Foreign Ministry will continue to monitor the issue closely.
