Foreign Ministry spokesman Gregory Delavekouras made the following statement regarding protesters’ forcing their way into the premises of the UK Embassy in Tehran:
“The obligations deriving from international conventions, such as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, are fully binding and must be implemented.
The Foreign Ministry is monitoring the events unfolding at the British Embassy in Tehran with concern, and condemns the protesters’ attack on those premises.
We call on the Iranian government to take control of the situation immediately and provide appropriate protection for the diplomatic missions.”
