Education, training, youth
In the EU the responsibility for organizing and implementing education and training systems lies with the member states and the EU's role is to support and complement their action. The EU seeks to improve education and facilitate employment in the EU countries.
EU’s actions in the fields of education, training and youth are mainly supported by the Erasmus+ Program, in which our country actively participates. Erasmus+ supports, among other things, the personal and professional development of learners, staff and vocational education and training institutions by funding mobility activities and partnerships for cooperation across Europe.
Greece believes that economic recovery should be accompanied by better jobs, with the implementation of investment policies in human capital, such as re-skilling and up-skilling of workers.
The 2023 European Year of Skills features events and activities to help citizens acquire the right skills for quality jobs and businesses to tackle skill shortages. In this context, the European Commission presented on 17/1/2023 the Communication on "Harnessing Talent in Europe's Regions", which proposes a Talent Booster Mechanism in order to address the shrinking working-age population and to attract skilled human resources in the most affected regions of the EU.
